Just like others
HIV is a sexually transmitted infection (STI), just like chlamydia, gonorrhea, or syphilis. It is transmitted through: Sexual contact, blood contact, and from mother to child.
What makes HIV different from other STIs:
- 🔹It doesn't cure, but treatments can control it.
- 🔹A person on treatment can have an undetectable viral load, which means they don't transmit the virus.
- 🔹With proper care, a person living with HIV can live as long as someone who is HIV-negative.
Not through a kiss 😉
HIV is mainly transmitted through:
- ✔️Unprotected sexual intercourse (vaginal, anal, and sometimes oral)
- ✔️Sharing needles or injection equipment
- ✔️Mother-to-child transmission (during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding)
- ✔️Unsafe blood transfusion (rare today thanks to medical controls)
🚫HIV is NOT transmitted through kissing, handshakes, sharing meals, glasses, or swimming pools!
Let's be clear! 🙂↕️
People living with HIV are not dangerous. With treatment, they can live normally without risk of transmission. Fighting against misconceptions and stigma allows everyone to better protect themselves and live without fear or shame.
📢Information is the key! Let's talk about it, protect ourselves, and move forward together towards a world without discrimination.
