There are two types of condoms: female (femidom) and male. Currently the male condom is the most accessible and most frequently used in Tunisia. When used correctly, condoms are a safe and effective protection against STI transmission. Theoretical effectiveness is 98% with perfect use.

• Single use: A condom is single-use; use a new one for each act.
• Combination prevention: Condoms can be used alone or together with other methods such as PrEP.
• Importance of lubricant: Use water-based lubricants (avoid oil-based products like oil, butter, or petroleum jelly).
• Correct use & hypoallergenic options: Do not layer condoms; hypoallergenic options exist.
